Scholars Program
ACCESS Program
(Achieving competence in Computing, Engineering, and Space Science)
This 10-week paid internship program is offered at NASA Centers around
the United States. It is designed for undergraduate and graduate students
with disabilities who have strong backgrounds in science and a desire
to pursue technical careers. Students work with scientists and engineers
in an area compatible with their skills and interests. This is a chance
to apply academic skills in the workplace and obtain practical professional
experiences. More information can be obtained at http://ehrweb.aaas.org/entrypoint/more.html.
LARSS Program
(Langley Aerospace Research Summer Scholars)
The main objectives of the LARSS program are to encourage high-caliber
college students to both pursue and earn graduate degrees and to enhance
their interest in aerospace research by exposing them to the professional
research resources and facilities of Langley Research Center. Through
these objectives, the LARSS program hopes to further education excellence
and provide students with the opportunity to study in their fields of
interest. Go to http://edu.larc.nasa.gov/larss/ for more information.
Michael P. Anderson Summer Outreach Program
The Michael P. Anderson Summer Outreach Program is a non-residential, day program designed to expose students to different areas of engineering & science through experimentation in the areas of civil, electrical & mechanical engineering. Students compete for trophies and awards at the conclusion of each activity.
Eligibility Requirements include students completing 9th, 10th or 11th grade by Spring 2006 and have a strong interest in science, math & technology.
Activities include: Assembly /Disassembly, Bridge Building, Electronic Projects, Land Measurements, Mathematics, Optics, Robotics, Solar Energy, Web Page Design, and Wireless Communication.

MISE Program
(Minorities in Science and Engineering)
Oakwood College, Alabama A&M University, and the University
of Alabama Huntsville
This program is designed to increase the number of scholastically well-suited,
highly-qualified, diverse students achieving degrees in engineering,
mathematics, science, or related undergraduate degrees. Through a support
system from each participating university, students are allowed to maximize
their ability to achieve and maintain a record of academic excellence
during their undergraduate years.
The application process for 2007 is now OPEN.
Applications are being accepted for the 2007 Summer Internship Program.

NACME
(National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering)
The nation's largest source of scholarships for minorities in engineering,
NACME provide highly qualified individuals with opportunities to the
mathematics, science and engineering related fields of study through
scholarships and internships. http://www.nacme.org
PSTI
(Pre-Service Teacher Institute)
The Pre-Service Teacher Institute is an intensive, two-week summer residential
session for college students who are preparing to teach in an elementary
or middle school from diverse backgrounds.
The program is designed to increase participants' skills
in teaching mathematics and science while incorporating technology into
the curriculum. This is achieved through the development of a Problem-Based
Learning (PBL) theme. Participants develop a group lesson that they
teach to children from a local school, and also teach in an elementary/middle
school when they return home.
The application process for 2006 is now closed.
Applications for the 2006 Pre-Service Teacher Institute are no longer being accepted

SPACE Program
(Strategic Preparedness Advancing Careers in Engineering/Science)
Morehouse College
This is a scholarship program made possible by a grant from NASA Headquarters
Code E. The primary goal of the program is to provide high-achieving
students an opportunity to pursue undergraduate studies in engineering,
math, and the physical sciences. Students selected for the program will
receive scholarship awards to supplement the cost of their undergraduate
education at Morehouse. MSFC sponsors summer research opportunities
and mentors for this scholars program.
WISE Program
(Women in Science and Engineering)
Spelman College
This scholars program is funded by NASA Headquarters Code E. The WISE
scholars program provides scientifically-talented students, particularly
those from groups underrepresented in the scientific and technical workforce,
with an opportunity to pursue undergraduate studies in science and engineering.
MSFC sponsors summer research opportunities and mentors for this scholars
program.
NOTE: To qualify for the above scholar programs, prospective
students are required to meet the criteria required by each individual
program:
